Building Your Workspace: Module Packs

Module packs in TIMU are a new kind of templating system that provide a way to quickly deploy preconfigured structures in your workspace.

More flexible than the old system of project templates, module packs can be installed or removed from a workspace separate from the creation of the workspace itself. Compared to the old system, packs also give more options for pre-defined/pre-generated structure and content.

Adding module packs to your workspace

Workspace owners can add existing module packs to a workspace at any time by opening the workspace landing page and clicking the '+ Add Functionality' link at the top of the page. Packs are organized by category. By default, TIMU will only display packs designated as 'official' by your organization. To add a module pack created by other users, de-select the option for 'only show official packs'.


Creating a new module pack

The first step to creating a module pack is to build the structure in your workspace. Add your modules, configure your fields, and create the views you want your template to have. When everything is ready, go to your workspace landing page and click 'Templatize'.


Use the checkboxes to select the modules you want to include in the pack. Modules selected for the template will be colorized, and modules not going in the template will be grayed out.

For each module you select, you can also choose to include the existing content and custom views. If you want to include these, click the 'More' link and use the checkboxes to select the details you want to include.


After you select all the configuration details to be included in the module, click the 'Create Template' button at the top of the screen and give the module pack a name to continue.


Next, choose a background image and enter a short description of your module pack. The description and image will be displayed on the '+Add Functionality' menu when users browse for your template. You can also include screenshots or videos, which will be added to the destination workspace along with the module pack.


Using your module pack in a workspace

To add your new pack to a workspace, click '+Add Functionality' from the workspace's landing page. Make sure to uncheck the 'only show official packs' option, and type the name of your pack in the search box. Click on your module pack to add it to the current workspace.
